LED Pong and Laser projector

Filed under: Uncategorized — Greg Lipscomb on February 18, 2006 @ 4:58 pm

These are two of the coolest things I have seen in a while. The first thing that you see up top is a pong game that is played on a 5×7 board of LEDs. This tiny game can play two players, and if the ball gets past your opponent, you get a point. It is just like the original game, only this is played on LEDs and an AVR microcontroller.

This next project uses a single laser, and 16 rotating mirrors. Each mirror has a different y-position. The laser can either be turned on or off. As the motor spins the AVR keeps track of when the laser needs to turn on. The motor spins at 20-30 rev/min. This is fast enough to create an image on the paper. There is also a movie on this site that shows the stickman in action. Somthing interesting to note is that there is a servo attached to the screeen, if you figure out what it does, then let me know. Anyway, go check out these awesome projects at [Link]

  2. I see that now. I was on dialup before, and could not view the video

  4. I think he is using some sort of a LED sensor, each sensor has some sort of fork wire thing that passes between the sensor and the led, so it pulses when each mirror passes through. It is kind of like in a roller ball mouse.

  6. [...] A tecnologia utilizada é a de espelhos rotatórios e, para os realmente geeks, é possível montar um protótipo da tecnologia em casa (role para baixo o site, é o segundo projeto).     [...]

  8. The servo is attatched to the laser module…i’m guessing its for alignment..
