Well, I was trying to curb spam, and made it where leaving comments could only be done by registering. Well, the only thing that did was to eliminate all comments. I still was overrun with spam. Now you can once again leave a comment without having to log in. I will work on getting some spam filters, so feel free to leave comments. I am afraid I have lost a lot of my return visits during my time off, but I still have a good core readership. I will work on some good projects and help drive more traffic back.

I actually installed “Spam Karma2″, it does a pretty good job of moderating the comments for me. It makes some mistakes, but it is much better than before.
Ultimately the only thing that really works is to moderate the comments manually and just delete the spam as you go. Seams like every automated spam deterent can be defeated.
