DIY Solar Battery Charger

Filed under: Uncategorized — Greg Lipscomb on May 5, 2007 @ 2:48 pm

Here is a good DIY project on charging a Nicad battery with a solar cell. It seems pretty straight forward, but it is good to have a simple circuit showing how to do it.

This instructable will show you how to make your own solar battery charger from very simple components. It is taken from my documentation provided with a kit I supply – you should easily be able to source the same components yourself of course.

  4. Please don´t try this. A battery needs a special charge depending on its composition. Using only a resistor and a diode it is not a good idea. Battery life will reduce drastically.

  6. This is an excellent example of a small or beginners test project that someone can do to actually see how easy it is to create your own solar projects. I think this will give anyone who wants to save money by doing their own home conversion, the confidence to move forward and do the project themselves.
